Southern View Police Canine Program
The police department is in the process of selling KICK'S cards for $10 each. Each card has various discounts and buy one get one free offers. All proceeds from the sale of these cards will go towards funding of the upcoming canine program. KICK'S has generously donated the profit from each card back to the program. T-shirts are also available for sale to support the canine program. Contact Officer Anthony Chisano or ChiefTaraba to purchase a card, t-shirt or if you have any questions. Officer Chisano is attending training classes with the dog named Tazer.

Register Now for the Friend’s Trivia Tournament
Springfield—The Friends of Lincoln Library and The Friends of Brookens Library will host a Trivia Tournament on Saturday, July 19, 2008. The tournament will be held at the University of Illinois, Springfield in the cafeteria, located in the lower level of the Public Affairs Center. The night will include door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and cash prizes to the winners. Refreshments will be available for purchase with a cash bar. Garden Shed Sale and Evening in the Garden
Master Gardeners of University of Illinois Extension Sangamon-Menard Unit are sponsoring a Garden Shed Sale in conjunction with Evening in the Garden. Thursday, July 17, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Sangamon-Menard Extension office, Building #30, on the Illinois State Fairgrounds. A wide variety of gently used outdoor garden tools and furniture, garden related household items, books, clothing, jewelry and one-of-a-kind artwork will be offered for sale by Sangamon-Menard Master Gardeners as part of this unique fundraiser. There will also be a silent auction area for the higher quality, unique items. There is no cost for admission to the sale and all sales will be final. MADD Seeking Volunteers (ongoing)
Mothers Against Drunk Driving is currrently seeking volunteers to help with its courtroom monitoring program. Volunteers are asked to attend DUI cases at the Sangamon County Courthouse and fill out a user friendly form regarding basic facts from the cash.
